Azur Papier – Start of production for the second machine
12.03.2021

February is a special month for Azur Papier!

Highly expected, it was finally on February 23rd, 2021 that production of the first reel of cellulose wadding of the second line took place, eight years after the production of the first reel of its first paper machine (on February 28th, 2013).

This new investment will increase Azur Papier's production capacity by 150% and allow the group to develop its exports and support raw materials need of its African subsidiaries in line with their growth strategies.

Azur Papier, a subsidiary of the Tunisian Group SAH, created in 2009 as part of the group's vertical integration strategy to secure the quality of its main raw material and ensure its supply independence of cellulose wadding.

Having reached its full capacity following strong market demand thanks to the quality of tissue paper products, the group has invested in a second production line with a capacity of 33,000 tons per year for a total investment of USD 31 million.

About 40% of the production of this second line is dedicated to carry the growing needs of the group's subsidiaries in cellulose wadding and the remaining is intended for export.

Azur Papier offers reels in virgin and recycled quality, designed and manufactured in an ethical and responsible manner.

For its supplies of virgin pulp, it works with FSC-certified suppliers who provide optimum quality with a minimum impact on the environment and people.

Azur Papier production process also incorporates the production of cellulose wadding in recycled quality by transforming waste paper, reducing the environment impact in all its processes.
